Move your campaign from Obsidian to Realmkit.
Upload your vault as it is. Realmkit keeps every note word for word, follows your links and folders, and asks you only where it is unsure.
A vault goes through the same import as a Notion export. Measured on a 129-file Notion export: 12 minutes, 14 questions.
Bring the Obsidian notes as they are.
- 1Your vault is a folder of Markdown files on your disk. Nothing needs cleaning up first.
- 2In Realmkit, open Import notes and pick that folder, or zip the folder and upload the zip.
- 3Images and attachments in the vault come along with the notes that use them.
- 4Press Start import. The page can be closed; the import carries on and the review waits for you.
Your Obsidian structure becomes a campaign.
- Every note, word for wordEach note is kept as you wrote it, images included, in the same folders as in your vault.
- A page of its own kindSessions, encounters, characters, places, quests and homebrew get their own pages, with stat blocks where your notes have them.
- [[Wikilinks]] become connectionsA link from one note to another tells Realmkit the two belong together: who lives where, who belongs to which group, which session a character appeared in.
- Frontmatter aliases are readAn alias in a note’s frontmatter is another name for the same person, so one character does not become two pages.
- Session logs become sessionsA session note becomes a session page with what happened and the threads it left open.
- Settings and plugins stay outThe .obsidian folder and plugin data are left out of your campaign; only your notes and images come in.
Realmkit asks only where it is unsure.
What a page is about, or whether two names are the same person: those are the questions. Everything Realmkit is sure of waits in Automatic for one click. Apply adds it to your campaign, Undo takes back what an Apply added, and Cancel import takes back everything the import made.
Moving from Obsidian.
Do I need to tidy my vault first?
No. Upload it as it is. Realmkit reads your folders, links and aliases to see how you filed things.
Is my original text changed?
No. Every note is kept word for word, and the pages Realmkit writes link back to it.
What happens to my templates and plugins?
They are not notes, so they stay out. Only the notes and images of your campaign come in.
Can I import again later?
Yes. A note that is already in your campaign is recognised and is not added twice.
Can I go back to Obsidian?
Yes. Campaign Settings → Export downloads the whole campaign as a folder of Markdown files with its images; open it in Obsidian as a vault.
My notes are in two languages.
That works. Notes in several languages import together, and you can have them translated while importing.
